CRACKING DAY OF RACING AT RANDWICK AND FLEMINGTON

RANDWICK

Race 1 – CHICAMA Last start maiden winner from the smart yard — she’s got the look of a filly on the up. ROTAGILLA chased hard and looks ready to make a mess of someone’s multi. But BELLE DETELLE could be the smokey — fresh off a long break, she’s had a sneaky trial and could explode late.

Race 2 – CONCOCTION Won at Armidale like Winx was on his back — hard not to like that. ASSOCIATE was sharp when runner-up fresh, and PONY SOPRANO is racing like she wants a record deal. Plenty of hopes here, but one looks cooked to serve.

Race 3 – YANKEE ONE Improved fitness, better trip — could surprise. JELLICIOUS is on a three-peat and doesn’t know how to lose. TRANSCEND has travelled from across the ditch chasing a hat-trick, but will need to swim through customs.

Race 4 – MERIDIANA Flashed home like a thief in the night last start — big threat again. VETWELVE has been honest all prep, and Sonofdec should’ve won last start if he got a split wider than a pub door on Cup Day. 1500m suits, but I’ll stay out and watch with chips in hand.

Race 5 – SUN GOD Blew punters away fresh at big odds — and might just rise again. MAJORIAN is in good touch and UNITED KINGDOM is a genuine threat if the tempo’s hot.

Race 6 – MEMORIA Lees-trained mare who flies fresh — and her trial work says “back me, baby.” BRAVE ONE and ISTOLEA MERC both genuine threats, but I’m sticking with the bomb fresh horse.

Race 7 – LADY SHENANDOAH Winner of big Group 1s last prep and oozes class. PRIVATE EYE is flying and JIMMYSSTAR just keeps cashing cheques. BRIASA could spoil the party but the lady’s back in town.

Race 8 – PANJA TOWER The Japanese raider who eats pressure for breakfast — reports say he’s settled in beautifully and might just announce himself with a bang. AUTUMN GLOW the proven local, LINEBACKER and EVAPORATE right in the mix.

Race 9 – MAISON LOUIS Derby winner who’ll relish getting back to a real track. WOOTTON VERNI in top touch and FAWKNER PARK is due for redemption. FIRM AGREEMENT still hanging around like that mate who never leaves after the BBQ.

Race 10 – GOLDEN STRAAND Chasing a hat-trick and perfectly placed. POLYGLOT is consistent as taxes, and SHARP SHOCK could lift second-up. But the sneaky one is MONEY TEAM — runs best when fresh and cashed up.
