CANTERBURY
Race 1 – SWELTERING
Placed in the Australasian Oaks and just missed at Flemington – that’s class.
If she doesn’t win here, she’ll be reported missing. Leading hope – and by leading we mean we’ll be leading the charge to the bookie window.
Race 2 – SYLPH
Form around Grand Eagle, Agarwood, Stardom – that’s basically the Avengers.
Two trials, draws soft, looks ready to explode. If she doesn’t fire… check if she’s a hologram.
Race 3 – BLUEPINOT
On-speed type in a race with less depth than a kiddie pool.
Should get a picnic run up front. If she folds late, we all fold with her.
Race 4 – TEQUILA BABY
Only missed by a neck fresh. Back in town and ready to order shots.
Take her to the bar, not the bin. Should go very well (and so should we after two margaritas).
Race 5 – WOUNDER
Ran fourth at Warwick Farm when backed like Phar Lap.
Drops a notch here – if we don’t give it another chance, we’re the ones who need a spell.
Could wound the bookies, or our dignity. 50/50.
Race 6 – CREPE MYRTLE
Won at Gosford. Coming to Canterbury. Serious operator.
This mare might be the town bus – everyone should be on.
Race 7 – POWER OF THE BRAVE
Placed and won this prep. One of those honest types that tries hard…
which is more than we can say about most of us on a Friday.
In with a chance – and so are we… briefly.
